چکیده

Non-invasive neurostimulation as an adjunctive intervention to task-specific motor training is approach foster performance in patients affected by upper neuron syndrome (UMNS). Here, we present first-line data of repetitive neuromuscular magnetic stimulation (rNMS) combination with personalized physical exercises targeting the tibialis anterior muscle improve ankle dorsiflexion (functional rNMS (frNMS)). The main objective this pilot study was assess feasibility terms adherence frNMS, safety and practicability satisfaction frNMS. First, during 10 sessions, only were performed (study period (SP) A). After a 1 week break, frNMS delivered sessions (SPC). Twelve children UMNS (mean age 8.9 ± 1.6 years) adhered 93% (SPA) 94% (SPC) omittance not related itself any case. safe (no AEs reported 88% no AE-related discontinuation). high. Paired Associative Stimulation Targeting the Tibialis Anterior Muscle using either Mono or Biphasic Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation

Paired associative stimulation (PAS) protocols induce plastic changes within the motor cortex. The objectives of this study were to investigate PAS effects targeting the tibialis anterior (TA) muscle using a biphasic transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) pulse form and, to determine whether a reduced intensity of this pulse would lead to significant changes as has been reported for hand muscl...

Effect of neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) on tibialis anterior in children with cerebral palsy

The aim of this work was to investigate the efficacy of using neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) applied on tibialis anterior in ambulant children with cerebral palsy (CP). The present work was designed as a controlled longitudinal study to compare the effect of treatment with or without NMES applied to 20 ambulant children with diplegic and hemiplegic CP. The stimulation group receive...

Effects of High-Frequency Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation on Motor Functions in Patients with Subcortical Stroke

Background: Motor function impairment occurs in approximately two-thirds of patients with subcortical stroke. Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a noninvasive technique for modulating cortical excitability. Objectives: The present study was designed for assessing the efficacy of high-frequency rTMS (5 Hz) on ipsilesional primary motor cortex in patients with subcortical stro...

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation with the Maximum Voluntary Muscle Contraction Facilitates Motor Neuron Excitability and Muscle Force

Three trials of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) during the maximum voluntary muscle contraction (MVC) were repeated at 15-minute intervals for 1 hour to examine the effects on motor evoked potentials (MEPs) in the digital muscles and pinching muscle force before and after 4 high-intensity TMSs (test 1 condition) or sham TMS (test 2 condition) with MVC. Under the placebo condition, real ...

Factors Associated With Upper Extremity Motor Recovery After Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation in Stroke Patients

OBJECTIVE To determine factors associated with motor recovery of the upper extremity after repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) treatment in stroke patients. METHODS Twenty-nine patients with subacute stroke participated in this study. rTMS was applied to the hand motor cortex for 10 minutes at a 110% resting motor threshold and 10 Hz frequency for two weeks. We evaluated the b...
